The desert story

In the desert, at the dawn,
My feet were sinking into the sand.
Just arrived, on the ground,
I was keeping watch over the desert land.

In the distance, behind the haze,
I perceived shadows and noises,
And I was afraid.
In the distance, over the dunes,
I couldn’t believe what I saw,
But I was not sure.

In the desert, at the daybreak,
I was discovering fear for the first time.
Just arrived, after a heartbreak
I didn’t know this strange feeling deep inside

In the distance, behind the haze,
I perceived shadows and noises,
And I was afraid.
In the distance, over the dunes,
The shadows became clearer,
A column of tanks were charging at me.

In the desert, in broad daylight,
In front of this incredible army
I believed that I was going to die
And impossible to run away

Distance was decreasing; they were hurtling down the slope
I was standing up,
With fear and hope.
Suddenly a sandstorm, arrived from nowhere,
Came down on the enemies
Was that an opportunity?

After a while, the storm stopped
I couldn’t believe my eyes, nobody around
I was taking new heart, looking around
Resuming the journey in the desert land…

In the distance, behind the haze,
I perceived shadows and noises,
And I was afraid.
In the distance, over the dunes,
I couldn’t believe what I saw,
But I was not sure.
